OWNER & REVIEWER IMPRESSIONS

A driver unlike anything else in the room.

Independent reviews, measurements, and owner impressions from the audiophile community.

The bass somehow merged the speed of an electrostatic and the punch of a dynamic driver in one. I think I found my endgame.

ORATORY1990

A top independent authority for headphone measurements — whose EQ presets are used by thousands — received a pre-production Genesis One for independent testing.

The impedance of these headphones is almost purely capacitive. For the majority of the frequency spectrum, they will only draw voltage from the amplifier — hardly any current.

By controlling the crystal lattice and actuator geometry, you can create a cantilever that moves up or down when voltage is applied — this bending motion then moves a large diaphragm. The benefit of separating the piezo actuator from the diaphragm lies in the fact that both can be optimized independently.

It sounds bloody amazing! Running on 314 milliwatts, there is insanely good sound from that little wattage. This binaural recording is way, way, way outside my head.

Detail & Resolution

More detailed than my Stax SR-007. Similar to the X9000. The closest thing I’ve heard in terms of raw detail presentation was the qdc Anole VX — and that’s an IEM. Incredibly detailed, incredibly snappy.

Bass Character

The bass is faster and comes out of silence. Audeze planars sound bloomy in comparison. They have crazy micro-detail and also slam like a subwoofer. The way they present sound is unique.

Comfort & Build

Very light and comfortable. The ear cups are huge and deep so nothing touches my ears. Clamp force is spot on. They surprisingly block out more outside sound than most open-backs I’ve tried.

“The sub base that it produces actually makes the chassis resonate and kind of vibrate a little bit, so it has this cool home theater subwoofer type effect. It is a brighter, highly resolving headphones, so if you want something that's just a total unique presentation that's really analytical, this is a really fun listen.”

“Lilly Audio might well have created the pair of headphones with the largest, widest, deepest soundstage that I have heard so far.”
